Matt Germain enters his fifth season as Head Coach at South Glens Falls, where he has built one of Section 2’s most competitive programs. Since 2022, he has led the Bulldogs to a 55–16 record, two Foothills Conference Championships, and four straight NYS Section 2 Championship appearances.
A Tully, NY native, Germain was a two-time All-Conference midfielder and team captain at Tully High School before continuing his career at LeMoyne College, Herkimer CC, and SUNY Cortland, earning All-Conference honors and a league championship at LeMoyne.
Under his leadership, South Glens Falls has produced 51 All-Foothills selections and 17 collegiate players. With collegiate coaching experience at the University of Colorado and more than a decade developing youth players in the SGF community, Germain brings a championship mindset and proven player-development track record to the Stags 2027 Purple Team.
Zack LaFave brings a strong lacrosse background and a passion for developing young players to his role as Assistant Coach of Team 2027 Purple. Zack currently serves as the Head Coach for the South Glens Falls JV lacrosse team and an assistant coach with the Varsity program in South Glens Falls. He works closely alongside the varsity coaching staff, helping guide athletes at the high school level.
Before transitioning into coaching, Zack enjoyed a successful playing career. He played his high school lacrosse at South Glens Falls High School, where he was a standout contributor for the Bulldogs during his playing years. In fact, his name appears on South Glens Falls’ all-time lacrosse roster from multiple seasons, highlighting his long-standing connection to the sport and the program. Zack finished his senior year as the MVP of the program at South Glens Falls.
Zack continued his lacrosse journey collegiately, competing at SUNY Canton, where he was a key offensive player for the men’s lacrosse team. During his senior season, he not only contributed on the field with goals and ground balls but also earned recognition for his academic achievements, earning senior scholar athlete accolades for his conference, blending athletic excellence with dedication in the classroom.
Known for his lacrosse IQ, leadership, and commitment to player improvement, Coach LaFave is excited to help guide the next generation of athletes on Team 2027 Purple.
Our 2027 team trains with a high-energy, development-focused practice schedule designed to build strong fundamentals, sharpen lacrosse IQ, and elevate overall performance. Players will work through skill development, position-specific training, gameplay concepts, and full-speed competitive reps — all led by experienced Stags coaches dedicated to helping each athlete grow.
