Coach Kris Bremer has been a key figure in Capital District lacrosse for more than 20 years. He has been part of the Guilderland High School coaching staff since 2005, serving as the defensive coordinator and supporting the development of the Guilderland boys youth lacrosse program.
Throughout his time with the program, Guilderland has won two Section II Championships and made four additional Section II Final appearances. Coach Bremer has helped mentor numerous standout athletes, including five All-Americans, four Academic All-Americans, and a Bob Scott Award recipient — along with many players who have gone on to compete at the collegiate level.
Coach Bremer is dedicated to growing the sport, building complete student-athletes, and promoting strong culture, accountability, and teamwork within every program he works with.
Highlights & Background
Tyler Hess joins the coaching staff with extensive experience as a high-level defensive specialist at both the Division I and high school levels. A native of Guilderland, NY, Hess built a reputation as a tenacious Long Stick Midfielder (LSM) and close defender known for his ground ball play, athleticism, and defensive IQ.
Hess played Division I lacrosse for Boston University in the Patriot League. After overcoming an injury his freshman year, he developed into a contributor for the Terriers’ defensive unit. He made his collegiate debut in a 12-4 win over Vermont and saw action in key conference victories against Lafayette and Bucknell. During his time at BU, he was part of a program that consistently competed against some of the top offenses in the nation, honing his understanding of team defense and transition play.
Before his time at BU, Hess was a dominant force at Guilderland High School. A four-year varsity starter, he graduated as one of the most decorated defenders in the program's history. His extensive list of honors includes selection as a US Lacrosse All-American, Under Armour All-American, and Brine All-American. As a senior, he was named a First Team Times Union All-Star and demonstrated his two-way ability by recording 10 goals and 6 assists as a defensive midfielder.
Tyler is a 2021 graduate of Boston University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Communications and Advertising. He brings the same discipline and leadership he learned as a D1 student-athlete to his coaching, helping the next generation of players develop their fundamental stick work, footwork, and game-time decision-making.
Our 2031 team trains with a high-energy, development-focused practice schedule designed to build strong fundamentals, sharpen lacrosse IQ, and elevate overall performance. Players will work through skill development, position-specific training, gameplay concepts, and full-speed competitive reps — all led by experienced Stags coaches dedicated to helping each athlete grow.
