Coach Scott Marr

UAlbany Men's Lacrosse, Head Coach

Scott Marr is one of the most respected figures in the lacrosse community and brings more than two decades of elite coaching experience to our program. Since 2001, he has served as the head men’s lacrosse coach at the University at Albany, building the Great Danes into a nationally recognized program known for its skill, creativity, and passion for the game.

Under his leadership, UAlbany has earned multiple America East championships, numerous NCAA Tournament appearances, and national acclaim for producing All-Americans and Tewaaraton Award winners — the highest honor in college lacrosse. Scott is a multi-time America East Coach of the Year and is widely regarded for his ability to develop players both on and off the field.

Before taking over at UAlbany, Scott coached at the University of Maryland and the University of Delaware, helping lead top-ranked teams and competing at the highest levels of Division I lacrosse. As a player, he starred at Johns Hopkins University, winning a national championship and competing in another NCAA final.

Scott grew up in Yorktown, New York — a community with a long tradition of strong youth lacrosse — and has remained committed throughout his career to giving young athletes the same opportunities that shaped him. His dedication to teaching fundamentals, encouraging creativity, and fostering a positive team culture is at the core of our league.

As a coach, mentor, and leader, Scott brings not only championship-level experience but also a genuine passion for helping young players fall in love with the game.

Coach Liam Gleason

Siena Men's Lacrosse, Head Coach

Liam Gleason, a native of Wading River, Long Island, was appointed the 10th head coach in the history of Siena Men's Lacrosse on June 26, 2018. His tenure has been marked by a significant turnaround for the program, culminating in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship in 2025.

Under Gleason's leadership, the Siena Saints have shown consistent improvement, reaching the MAAC Semifinals in four consecutive seasons. The 2025 season was a landmark year for the team, as they secured the MAAC Championship and earned an automatic qualification for the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 11 years. That season, Siena tied the program record for wins with 11, and Gleason was honored as the MAAC Coach of the Year.

Before taking the helm at Siena, Gleason had a successful seven-season run as the associate head coach at the University at Albany (UAlbany). During his time there, the Great Danes became a perennial national powerhouse, making six consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances and reaching the Championship Weekend for the first time in program history in 2018. His coaching career also includes a previous stint as an assistant coach at Siena from 2008 to 2010, where he helped guide the Saints to their first-ever MAAC Tournament Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance in 2009.  In 2011, Gleason was named the first head coach of the Division II program at The College of Saint Rose.

Gleason's coaching philosophy is influenced by his own playing career. He played defenseman at UAlbany, where he was part of the 2007 team that won the America East Conference championship and advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals.

In his role with the Albany Stags Lacrosse Club, Liam Gleason acts as a mentor to every coach in the organization, guiding curriculum, coaching philosophy, and professional growth. He is responsible for creating and refining training programs that enhance player development at every level — from beginners in youth lacrosse to high school competitors — ensuring consistency and quality throughout the club.
